Ziegler I. (1977): Sulfite action on ribulosediphosphate carboxylase in the lichen Pseudevernia furfuracea - Oecologia, 29: 63-66

Ribulosediphosphate carboxylase can be extracted from Pseudevernia furfuracea, either by Triton X-100 or by pretreatment with liquid nitrogen. With respect to HCO 3- the Km is 33 mM. The enzyme is competitively inhibited by sulfite, as is the case with spinach chloroplasts. The K~ value (t5.5-18.5 mM sulfite) indicates that in lichens the enzyme is not more sensitive than that in spinach. Thus the extreme sensitivity of lichens to SO 2 is not based on low tolerance at the enzymatic level, but … EndNote Read more...

Zielman H.R. (2021): Bescherming van IJslands mos (Cetraria islandica) in Overijssel [Protection of Cetraria islandica in Overijssel (the Netherlands)] - Buxbaumiella, 120: 59–62

[in Dutch with English abstract: ] Cetraria islandica is known from three localities in the province of Overijssel. A survey initiated by the provincial government revealed that at two of them the population is at danger. The largest (Lemelerberg) population is managed by a nature conservation organization (Landschap Overijssel), the two smaller localities were not managed with a lichen conservation aim. In consultation with the landowner’s ecologist, at one site a simple fence was placed … EndNote PDF Read more...

[in Spanish with English abstract: ] This paper presents the results obtained from the planimetric survey and lichenometric analyses conducted for the first time in the hunter-gatherer archaeology of Patagonia. Campo de Chenques site is a concentration of chenque-type human burial structures located on the Atlantic coast of the province of Santa Cruz, Argentina. A planimetric survey of the structures that make up the site was performed using a differential GPS. In addition, lichenometric studies … EndNote Read more...

EndNote Read more...

Remarkable lichen species found in the Sauerland, Germany between Bigge and Lenne and in the Littfeld area are presented. For selected species notes on distribution and ecology are given. Naetrocymbe fraxini is a new record for Northrhine-Westphalia. Hymenelia prevostii und Phaeocalicium populneum have not been collected in Northrhine-Westphalia since 1900, Arthrorhaphis grisea, Cetrelia olivetorum, Lecanora albellula und Physcia aipolia are rediscoveries for Westphalia.
