During our study of crustose lichens collected from Mt.Taibai, Shaanxi Province, we discovered an unusual species Orphniospora moriopsis (A. Massal.) D. Hawksw. It is characterized by the dark brown areolate thallus, black apothecia and brown spores. Orphniospora belongs to Fuscideaceae, Teloschistales, Lecanoromycetidae, Ascomycetes, Ascomycota (Kirk et al., 2001). The genus is reported from China for the first time.
