The floristic composition and the community structure of pristine old-growth stone-birch forests were studied in the Bannaya and Bystraya river basins (Ust' -Bolsheretsk region). The mean age of the tree-layer was 200-250 years, the age of the eldest birch trees - up to 350 years. Due to the tree-layer of different ages and the presence of decaying fallen trees the composite spatial structure is formed. It determines the considerable variability of microsites that is the cause of the high species diversity of the communities. The detailed study of vegetation cover, bryophytes and lichenobiota were carried out at 10 sample plots (20 X 20 m). The total species composition of vascular plants, mosses and lichens was revealed. It was represented by 79 species of vascular plants, 69 species of bryophytes and 151 species of lichens and Calicioid fungi. The species composition and the community structure of old-growth stone-birch forests were analysed.
