Desmazieria MONT. 1852 (Ramalinaceae) and Desmazeria DUM. 1823 (Poaceae) do not sound sufficiently similar that they are likely to be confused. Therefore, the genus name Desmazieria MONT. can be retained in the Lichenophyta. The following new combinations are proposed: Desmazieria bourgeana (MONT.) FOLLM. comb. nov. (bas. Ramalina bourgeana MONT., Desmazieria cactacearum (FOLLM.) FOLLM. comb. nov. (bas. Ramalina cactacearum FOLLM.), Desmazieria maciformis (DEL.) FOLLM. comb. nov. (bas. Parmelia maciformis DEL.), Dictyonema montanum (SWARTZ) PARM. (bas. Ulva montana SWARTZ), Psora galactina (ZAHLBR.) FOLLM. comp. et stat. nov. (bas. Lecidea decipiens [HEDW.] ACH. var. galactina ZAHLBR.). Ramalina follmannii DODGE proved to be a new synonym of Desmazieria cactacearum (FOLLM.) FOLLM., a revised description of which in presented. New chemical data on some of the taxa cited above are also included.
