An anatomical and chemical revision of the type material of the Antarctic crustose lichen Lecanora orosteoides Wain. (Turku University Herbarium) showed its identity with Haematomma erythromma (Nyl.) Zahlbr. (Lecanoraceae, Ascomycetidae), endemic in Subantarctic South America and West Antarctica.
