The lichen flora of the Wechsel mountain is investigated. This mountain is phytogeographically important as it has the easternmost treeless peaks in the siliceous mountain chaines of the Alps. The lichen flora is mainly boreal-cenrral-european/montane but includes also several alpine species. Twenty-five taxa of lichens and lichenicolous fungi are reported for the first time for Lower Austria.
