The occurrence in New Guinea of 12 species of the genus Artzia (Anziaceae, Lecanorales, lichenized Ascomycetes) was established by morphological and chemical examination of about 200 samples. A lichenological exploration of the Santorini archipelago (Central Aegean, Greece) lead to the discovery of 108 additional species of lichenized and lichenicolous fungi in the area, making a total of 157.
