The lichen vegetation on the gravel plains in the fog zone of the Namib- Desert north of Swakopmund/Namibia is investigated at 25 sites along a 40 km transect from coast to inland. At every site the frequency was registered on the basis of 100 sampling quadrats of 10 × 10 cm. In all, 42 species were found.
