Four aquatic pyrenolichens, Porina fluminea, Verrucaria aethiobola, V, funckii and V. rheitrophila, are reported for the first time from Australia. Polyblastia cruenta, Porina guentheri and Verrucaria inconstans are new records for New South Wales. Eighteen foliicolous species of Porina and (Trichotheliaceae) are reported for the first time from the Solomon Islands and/or Vanuatu in the south-western Pacific Ocean. McCarthy (2000) reported seven corticolous species of Porina collected in Vanuatu by H, Streimann and P, Ala. We report the first Australian collections of Verrucaria fusconigrescens Nyl. and V. prominula Nyl. These lichens occur on siliceous seashore rocks in Tasmania, and both are also known from Europe and boreal North America.
