The occurrence in New Guinea of 12 species of the genus Artzia (Anziaceae, Lecanorales, lichenized Ascomycetes) was established by morphological and chemical examination of about 200 samples. All belong to sect. Nervosae. Differentiating characters were predominantly found in the means for vegetative reproduction.
