Lecidea ramulicola (5 Lecanora symmicta f. ramulicola) is raised to species rank
within Lecanora. It is anatomically similar to Lecanora symmicta, but unlike that species it has
atranorin as major secondary product and usnic acid only as an accessory substance, more
frequently branched and anastomosing paraphyses, and shorter conidia. The species is known
from northeastern North America and central Europe, where it is often found in pine forests, most
frequently on dead pine twigs.
