Wilmanns O. (1988): Können Trockenrasen derzeit trotz Immissionen überleben? - Eine kritische Analyse des Xerobrometum im Kaiserstuhl, Carolinea, 46: 5–16

May dry grassland communities survive in spite of immissions? - A critical analysis of the Xerobrometum in the Kaiserstuhl/SW-Germany. The object of this study was to ascertain whether changes due to immission, in particular nitrogenous immission, have occurred in the dry grasslands of the Kaiserstuhl, belonging to the Xero- brometum artemisietosum VON ROCHOW 1948. The study was carried out by comparing very recent vegetational relevés (1987) with those from earlier decades (beginning 1926) and … URL EN Read more...

Wilmanns O. (1959): Epiphytengesellschaften Nordgriechenlands in Verleich mit denen Mitteleuropas, Phyton [Horn, Austria], 8(1-2): 175-182

Greece; phytosociology. EN PDF Read more...

Wilmanns O. & Bibinger H. (1969): Die Epiphytenvegetation der Mosswalder im Breisgau, Vegetatio, 17: 352-359

SUMMARY. There is given a synopsis of the epiphytic communities of woodland on moist ground in the subatlantic-submediterranean climate of the Upper Rhine Valley. On old Quercus robur one finds a complex of Anomodonto-Isothecietum at the base, Arthonietum impolitae, Opegraphetum fuscellae and Antitrichietum curtipendulae on the lower and middle trunk and on the upper parts the Phlyctido-Sulcatetum. Carpinus betulus is covered with the Pyrenuletum nitidae. On Fraxinus excelsior one can find the Opegraphetum … EN PDF Read more...

Wilske B. & Kesselmeier J. (1999): First Measurements of the Cl- and C2- Organic Acids and Aldehydes Exchange Between Boreal Lichens and the Atmosphere, Phys. Chem. Earth (B), 24(6): 125-128

Abstract - We report on the initial results of measurements of the exchange of organic acids and aldehydes between lichens and the atmosphere under controlled climate chamber conditions. We found a formic acid deposition to lichens depending on thallus water content. Investigation of aldehyde exchange revealed a small and time limited emission of acetaldehyde which is enhanced by anoxic conditions. Formaldehyde emission was never observed. EN Read more...

principally to the activity of the fungal component in excreting extracellular organic acids, particularly oxalic acid. This results in extensive surface etching of the minerals, the conversion of some minerals to siliceous relics, the formation of poorly ordered weathering products and the crystallization of oxalates at the rock/lichen interface and within the lichen thallus. Interpretation of these features is facilitated by the fact that they can be simulated experimentally. The relevance … EN Read more...
