Carbacanthographis agasthyamalana has an ecorticate thallus, a completely carbonised excipulum, a clear hymenium, transversely septate ascospores and protocetraric acid as the lichen substance. Carbacanthographis kalakadensis has a corticate thallus, a completely carbonised excipulum, an inspersed hymenium, muriform ascospores and it lacks lichen substances. A key to all the known Carbacanthographis species from India is provided.
