This article presents the discovery of Punctelia jeckeri, which had not been reported from Hungary, and its occurrences
mapped in recent years. The species has been overlooked until now, but our herbarium revision of the BP collection
proves that some of the specimens were published under P. subrudecta in recent years. The oldest Hungarian
voucher specimen was collected 100 years ago by György Timkó in the Balaton Uplands. According to the results of
our mapping work, P. jeckeri is a native lichen taxon of the country’s rainier regions.
Key words: biogeography, forest management, nature conservation, oceanic element, Parmeliaceae.
