34 species of epiphytic and epigaeic lichens were observed and their distribution was studied on the Pfaueninsel from 1980 up to 1983. A comparison with an analysis carried out by Grummann & Poelt from 1966 to 1971 shows that meanwhile no essential changes happened; the considerable reduction of the diversity in the area examined had already taken place before. Old trees should be preserved as long as possible in order to protect the still existing sparse remains of the lichen vegetation. The Corynephoretum of the ,,Kunkelwiese“ is a remarkable location of lichens on soil as there are only few comparable biotops in Berlin (West).
