Nova Scotia hosts a high diversity of lichens, including many species at risk. This study aimed to identify areas of exceptional lichen richness to prioritize their conservation. Using expert knowledge, historical data, and defined habitat and species criteria, 25 Lichen-Rich Areas were identified across eight counties, totaling 5,482 ha. These areas harbor numerous rare and endangered species, such as Boreal Felt Lichen and Vole Ears. The study emphasizes the need for undisturbed protection of these zones to preserve lichen biodiversity in the province
