We present a genome assembly from a specimen of lichen-forming fungus, Cladonia squamosa (Ascomycota; Lecanoromycetes; Lecanorales; Cladoniaceae). The genome sequence is 38.0 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 26 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 50.9 kilobases in length. Keywords: Cladonia squamosa, lichen-forming fungus, genome sequence, chromosomal, Lecanorales.
