The lichen genus Usnea (Parmeliaceae, Ascomycota) in Belarus

Based on an examination of 464 herbarium specimens of the genus Usnea, this study deals with their morphology, secondary chemistry, habitat requirements and distribution in Belarus. Fifteen taxa have been accepted, namely Usnea barbata, U. cavernosa, U. ceratina, U. dasopoga, U. florida, U. glabrata, U. glabrescens var. glabrescens, U. gla-brescens var. fulvoreagens, U. hirta, U. intermedia, U. perplexans, U. praetervisa, U. subfloridana, U. substerilis and U. wasmuthii, of which U. praetervisa and U. substerilis are new to the country. Usnea hirta, U. dasopoga and U. subfloridana are the most common species in Belarus (82 % of the studied specimens).
