Biodiversity of lichenized and lichenicolous fungi in the Eisenerzer Alpen (Styria). —
A species list including more than 500 lichenized and 100 lichenicolous taxa is presented for the Eisenerzer
Alpen, a mountain chain in Upper Styria, that consists mainly of palaeozoic limestone and siliceous schists.
A number of species including Buellia elegans, Nephroma expallidum, Peltigem kristinssonii, and Teloschistes
contortuplicatus have there their easternmost populations in the Alps so far known. Skyttea cismonicae
Hafellner (type host: Loxospora cismonica) is described as new to science and reported from Austria and
Slovenia. Rimularia gyrizans, Thelidium gisleri, and Thelidium verrucosum are recorded for the first time in
Austria, as are Arthonia calcicola, Chaenotbeca hispidula, Endocarpon pusillum, Lecanora hageni var. fallax,
Mycobilimbia fissuriseda, Mycobilimbia microcarpa, Peltigem kristinssonii, Polyblastia albida, Polyblastia sendtneri,
Rinodina immersa, Tephromela atra var. torulosa, and Verrucaria dufourii in the province of Styria.
