Preliminary studies towards a Monograph of the Lichen Family Roccellaceae Chev. VII. Secondary products and relationships of the genera Combea de Not. and Schizopelte T.M. Fries. The spectra of secondary products of Combea mollusca (Ach.) de Not. (Namibia) and Schizopelte californica T.M. Fries (California) proved to be qualitatively and quantitatively identical. Lecanoric acid (depside) and schizopeltic acid (dibenzofuran) are first records for the genus Combea. For chemical, morphological, anatomical, ontogenetical, and ecological reasons both genera should be united: Combea (incl. Schizopelte, Roccellaceae, Arthoniales, Loculoascolichenes).
